Day 1 TUESDAY
Met on arrival at airport and transfer to Kigali. Briefing on your safari. After lunch, depart for PNV at 2pm. The journey north goes through the beautiful terraced hillsides that characterise much of Rwanda’s landscape, gradually climbing to the base of the awesome Virunga volcanoes, sometimes with as many as five peaks visible. O/N: Volcanoes Virunga Lodge (FB).
Day 2 WEDNESDAY
Go gorilla tracking in Parc National des Volcans (subject to permit availability at the time of booking). Tracking the gorillas through the light mountain forest on the slopes of the Virungas is a magical experience. If you are lucky you can get to the gorillas, spend an hour with them, and be back at the base in time for a late lunch! Some gorilla families, however, are more elusive, and tracking can take a full day, especially when it is wet and muddy. O/N: Volcanoes Virunga Lodge (FB).
Day 3 THURSDAY
Either go gorilla tracking again in Parc National des Volcans (on payment of supplement at time of booking), or visit the golden monkeys or drive to Gisenyi, visit Ross Carr's orphanage and Lake Kivu or climb the Visoke/Muhavura volcanoes, or trek to Dian Fossey's grave, or visit the local school, community projects or walk to Lake Bulera. O/N: Volcanoes Virunga Lodge (FB).
Day 4 FRIDAY
In the morning either relax or walk near the Lodge, visit the golden monkeys or trek to Dian Fossey's grave. After lunch transfer to Uganda [Clocks go forward one hour]. Time permitting go for a walk near Mount Gahinga. O/N: Volcanoes Mount Gahinga Lodge (FB).
Day 5 SATURDAY
Either go gorilla tracking again, this time in Mgahinga/Nkuringo (on payment of supplement at time of booking), or climb a volcano, or go for a nature walk, or visit the golden monkeys in Mgahinga. O/N: Volcanoes Mount Gahinga Lodge (FB).
Day 6 SUNDAY
Drive to Bwindi through the Switzerland of Africa, with the road winding through many hills and valleys, with distant views of the volcanoes and lakes. Time permitting go for a guided nature walk in the thick forest rich in birds, butterflies and monkeys. Alternatively go for a short stroll around the Lodge. O/N: Volcanoes Bwindi Lodge (FB).
Day 7 MONDAY
Either go gorilla tracking (on payment of supplement at the time of booking), walking up steep densely forested hills before finally coming across the gorillas camouflaged in the vegetation. An inspiring moment! Tracking in Bwindi requires stamina and can often take most of the day. Alternatively go for a leisurely nature or community walk. O/N: Volcanoes Bwindi Lodge (FB).
Day 8 TUESDAY
Leave for Kigali in Rwanda via Kabale and Katuna, [Clocks go back one hour]. Time permitting, go for a tour of the city including a visit to the market, a pottery project, handicraft shops, the Franco-Rwandan cultural centre and the genocide memorial. Transfer to the airport (HB).
1. Published prices may change without notice in case of unforeseen circumstances beyond our control.
2. Prices are valid until 31 December 2007 unless unforeseen circumstances require them to be changed. Prices for 2008 will be published at a later date.
3.Prices are based on exchange rates with the US dollar in June 2006: 1.87 US dollars to the £ sterling and 1.27 dollars to the euro. For payments in £ sterling and euro the dollar shall be converted at the prevailing exchange rate at the time of payment.
4. Prices include transport and a driver/guide for the itinerary agreed, accommodation on a shared basis and meals as stated (in Kampala, Entebbe and Kigali bed and breakfast only and on safari full board) and, where appropriate, boat trips, park fees, chimpanzee permits and one gorilla permit. At Volcanoes gorilla lodges (Bwindi, Mount Gahinga and Virunga), the tariffs are on an all-inclusive basis including unlimited consumption of all alcoholic and soft drinks; laundry services; and any activities clients wish to do around the lodges. A complimentary massage is also offered.
5. Prices exclude airfares to Uganda/Rwanda, entry visas and airport taxes. At non-Volcanoes lodges all personal expenditure such as tips, telephone calls, laundry and drinks are excluded.
6. All gorilla permits need to be purchased at the time of booking or a deposit equivalent to 20% of the cost of the safari paid, whichever is higher. Gorilla viewing is subject to availability of permits, which are limited; any additional gorilla permits required should be purchased when booking. Gorilla permit prices are subject to change without warning.
7. The safari prices include a $100 contribution per client which will be transferred to the Volcanoes Partnership Trust, a separate non-profit organisation to undertake community and conservation activities.

Your journey begins today when you board your flight to Cape Town. In Flight
Day 2 - Thursday, November 8: Cape Town
On arrival in Cape Town, the Abercrombie & Kent representative will greet you just outside the customs area for the drive to your hotel.
Located in the heart of Cape Town's Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, the Cape Grace Hotel offers spectacular views of Table Mountain, the yacht marina and the working harbor. Built in a style, which is timelessly classic, the Cape Grace provides the perfect link between the elegance of the old city and the vibrancy of the waterfront. Cape Grace Hotel
Day 3 - Friday, November 9: Cape Town
No visit to Cape Town would be complete without a cable car ride to the top of Table Mountain, from where you will have a true reflection of the beauty of the Cape Peninsula and the Mother City at your feet. Table Mountain with its dramatic setting watching over the city, is a proclaimed World Heritage Site and a world famous landmark. Enjoy coffee, tea and an assortment of pastries on top of the mountain.
We then depart for the Footsteps to Freedom Walking Tour where you will enjoy Mime artists in the Company Gardens, an African Choir at the District Six Museum and a treasure hunt. During this walking tour participants will reach into the soul of Cape Town, by retracing 350 years of dramatic history. Specially trained tourist guides will bring to life the challenges facing the early Dutch settlers, the pain of slavery, the Cape as a colony, the tragedy of apartheid, and the joy and triumph of our new "Rainbow Nation". We will also explore the influence the Germans have had on this vibrant city.
Lunch will be at a local restaurant.
Later this afternoon you will transfer to Signal Hill for a unique experience. Upon arrival at Signal Hill, an African Marimba Band will welcome you to Cape Town with true African Spirit. You will be served a refreshing welcome drink and snacks will be served beneath bedouin tents whilst you have the opportunity to admire the unsurpassed views of the city that are offered by Signal Hill. Unlike Table Mountain, the weather is generally clear on Signal Hill.
You will be entertained by a Children's Choir who will sing for you while you relax beneath the tents on grass mats or at the trestle tables. This is a true journey through time and an opportunity to stop and enjoy the moment. We then return to the hotel where the rest of the evening will be at leisure to relax and explore the V&A Waterfront. Cape Grace Hotel B, L
Day 4 - Saturday, November 10: Cape Town/Winelands/Cape Town
The Winelands is a haven of gracious, white-gabled farmsteads evoking a rich, elegant heritage. The legacies of the early winemakers are evident in the Winelands leafy towns of Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl - where the prominent gables of the graceful homesteads bear testimony to 18th century origins.
Your Winelands journey begins with a visit to Boekenhoutskloof with a tour by the owner of the Estate followed by Lunch at Ruebens Restaurant which was established to help a young colored gentleman start his career as a chef. Ruebens was recently voted as one of South Africa's top 10 Restaurants.
After lunch we visit Muratie a small privately owned Estate dating back to the 17th Century. Here Ryk Melck will personally conduct your visit and offer a wine tasting in the original cellar. Afterwards, we return to the Cape Grace Hotel, where there will be some time to freshen up and relax before departing on our next adventure.
Township Music Tours offer you the rare opportunity to experience first hand the vital, authentic music of Cape Town's townships: eating, drinking and partying with the locals to the rhythm of some of South Africa's finest music.
The Township Music Tour is a new and exciting way to access the lively heart and soul of the Cape. It offers the easiest, most innovative, and community based access to the heart of the Cape's Township vibe. This incredible tour uses music as the entry point into the rich diversity of township life and offers you a new way to meet, mingle and see first hand the realities of life in the townships of the Cape. As the universal language, music really is a way to break down cultural barriers and experience the uniqueness of South African life.
Depart for a Tavern in Langa for sundowners and then it's on to the Xhosa Restaurant in Crossroads for dinner where you will be greeted by a capella Choir and welcomed with glasses of homemade ginger beer and given some background information on the restaurant. A delicious traditional dinner is served - and hosts explain the various dishes. The band strikes up in the outdoor boma where you can dance to the vibey Kwela rhythms of a township band. The Cape Grace Hotel B, L, D
Day 5 - Sunday, November 11: Cape Town/Cape Point/Cape Town
After breakfast, you begin your full day tour of the Cape Peninsula. Following the Atlantic coastline you will travel past the famous bikini beaches of Clifton to Camps Bay, nestling at the foot of the towering Twelve Apostles mountain peaks. You continue past Llandudno and the fishing village of Hout Bay to magnificent Chapman's Peak Drive, before traveling to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and Cape Point with its breathtaking views.
After visiting Cape Point, weather permitting, we will setup a private lunch in the reserve on the beach under magnificent Bedouin Tents. We then continue after lunch to Houtbay and board our private Catamaran Tigger II for a sunset cruise back to the Waterfront. Drinks and Canapés will be served on board. Dinner tonight will be at the Waterfront for a superb seafood dinner at Baia Restaurant. Baia is the new landmark for fine seafood and cuisine in Cape Town. Baia is on the cutting-edge of the restaurant scene, serving signature seafood dishes and fabulous fare in a glorious setting that welcomes visitors to Cape Town in style.
After dinner we will return to the Hotel and the rest of the evening will be at Leisure. The Cape Grace Hotel B, L, D

From here workers commute daily by train, bus or private car to their places of employment in Johannesburg. Its people come from almost every tribe in the Republic and Soweto is served by many schools, churches, sporting and recreation facilities. Your tour through Soweto will take you to interesting places including the Oppenheimer Tower with its beautiful gardens. Adjacent is the Khayelendaba (Credo Mutwa Kraai), a vision of a well known Zulu witchdoctor philosopher's impression of Africa. View the old and the new housing as well as the community center.

Zambia and Mozambique Vacation Special
Zambia and Mozambique
11 days priced from $6,200 per person, double occupancy
South Luangwa National Park and Benguerra Island Insiders know that one fail-safe way to avoid masses of other travelers is to head to “undiscovered” countries like Zambia and Mozambique, and combining an active safari journey with time on exquisite beaches is a perfect way to enjoy the best of what these two countries have to offer. Start at Nkwali Lodge in near Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park, where the game is plentiful and the area is delightfully unspoiled. After a full day of safari activities at Nkwali, transfer to Nsefu Lodge across the river. The Nsefu sector is one of the most pristine areas of Zambia and your spot on the bend of the Luangwa River provides an excellent base from which to enjoy game viewing, visits to nearby villages, or picnic outings. Make your way from Zambia to Mozambique; a one-night stop in Johannesburg ensures that the journey is not too arduous. In Mozambique, spend 3 full days enjoying the immaculate white sand beaches and crystal waters of Benguerra Lodge, one of the most beautiful properties in the archipelago.
